The Comment Section with Drew Afualo Podcast Celebrates 100th Episode

The podcast, The Comment Section with Drew Afualo has reached the 100th episode milestone.

If you're not a listener, in every episode, Drew Afualo and a new weekly guest explore the dreaded comment section of their tagged videos on TikTok. 

On the podcast, the host and her guests will comb through their war zone comment sections together while discussing the themes of racism, misogyny, and bigotry that arise. 

The comments section on any social media platform is a dumpster fire of rage, hate, racism, misogyny, and conspiracy theories born of extremism and fueled by fringe media outlets pandering to their base. 

Drew Afualo, best known as TikTok’s “Crusader or Women,” is a part of the new Hollywood's next generation of rising stars. From her witty content to her no—BS approach to shoveling misogyny out of the TikTok app via viral takedowns, Drew is taking female empowerment to new levels.

Drew Afualo's primary goal when creating content is to empower women of all backgrounds, from color, size, race, and everyone in between, to gain the confidence to stand up for themselves and others.

Quickly being recognized as a trailblazer within the industry, Afualo was named an honoree of META’s inaugural Creators of Tomorrow list.

Drew Afualo has also stepped into the world of entertainment by launching two media platforms —a new show called The Comment Section with Drew Afualo and Two Idiot Girls, the latter of which is a podcast she co-hosts with her sister Deison Afualo. Afualo is also a women’s advocate, a proud Samoan who often uplifts her heritage and others in the AAPI community, she’s a huge sports fan (she used to work for the NFL), and a fashionista on the rise.

Some of my favorite guests in those 100 episodes included comedian Matt Bellassai when he and Afualo discussed red carpet sweat horror stories; Tony Statovci joking about odd celebrity encounters and TSA miscues; and singer Meghan Trainor.

 I like the concept of a milestone episode that offers listeners some of the best moments. Some of Afualo's chosen moments were hysterical and insightful. Yet I keep wondering how much better the episode could have been if they had taken the time to do a preamble before every snippet so we knew who the guest was or what was the topic of the conversation. A milestone episode can be an opportunity to attract new listeners. It's like a greatest hits album in music. 

Check out the 100th episode. Even missing some context, it's a fun listen from a talented woman.

Album reviews are everywhere and they're looking good, Fine Line is getting love! Rolling Stone goes all out with a big Rob Sheffield piece with Harry quotes old and new. Harry talks about Happily being both the first time he was in the writing credits and his first realization that when he wrote really personal things for the band he would have to let others voice them, and about writing Two Ghosts for Made In The AM but wanting it to be just his, but says now all his songs are just his own "little babies." We learn that Sunflower is Stevie Nicks' favorite FL track, and Rob revives the quote about tour and Harry realizing "oh wow they really want me to be myself, to be out and do it." Oh yeah Harry also said the voice note on Cherry came about because Camille was nearby on the phone when he was writing the song and was speaking in the same key as he was playing which raises many questions. Like. Why would he be recording her at the start of the call, but okay reenactment, but why would he be writing a sad breakup song about them not speaking while they were hanging out?!

Fine Line covershoot photos just keep coming out and every one is progressively both more clothed and more obscene than the previous, starting from the delicate nude and moving to these raunchy fully dressed shots: a paradox. The album booklet brings us a glimpse of titles of songs we don't get to hear, plus Harry in a shirt reading "I'd like to fellate George Harrison," and in a pre-recorded message for the Jingle Ball today he wears one saying "why be racist, sexist, homophobic, or transphobic be when you can just be quiet?"

Louis played today in New York at Pier 36 for Jingle Ball. About being called Sunshine by fans he says, "Ain’t that nice? They are lovely." He added the Pop List playlist to his Spotify; Harry is on the cover and all of OT5 are featured on the list. He says his favorite place to tour to it's Japan and that he particularly enjoys a club which is run by Harry's good friend Katsuhisa Fujii (Bell the dog's dad) which Louis was last at publicly four years ago.

Niall absolutely fucking smashed it doing seven spot-on accents in quick succession on the Tonight Show last night like seriously give this man an award that was unbelievable! Then he makes up for betraying his heritage by getting his whole band to help him be Very Irish backstage at MSG, adding a little jig for good measure. He sang baby it's cold outside ("it's way too fucking cold to go outside!") to us from bed while shirtless and floofy haired, and will play the Madison Square Garden Jingle Ball tonight (and is currently being funny and goofy all over the red carpet and backstage.)

Liam says he wanted to get the album out so he'd have enough songs to tour and also that though he is "heavily monitored" people don't really know what's going on with him and some of the album tracks talk about his deeper struggles he's kept quiet about. HQs of his Tetu photoshoot are out.

And Miles Langford and Lottie are launching a streetwear label called Fizzy that was originally planned by Fizzy before her death. Sales will partially benefit the Child Bereavement UK fund.
