I cannooooot get over him tending to her grave at the end. adding 'beloved wife' because it was considered an embarrassment for him to have died unmarried. keeping it clean and bringing flowers just like she did for him. I can't prove this but all the mud around the grave in that scene makes me think he had already dug her up but still brought flowers there 🥺🥺 like shut UP

God, I'll never get over this. He heard her coming, axe in hand, and didn't turn around. He had no intention of defending himself. He was going to let her take his life if she felt she needed to. He didn't even turn around until he heard the axe hit the ground.

Just. The way he looks at her when he realizes she's not going to hurt him. He's so devoted to her, so in love.
