Cabin 6 -Athena- headcanons

  • They all have amazing hand-writing
  • None of them can make it through the harry potter and the chamber of secrets film
  • Their cabin is entirely spider proof
  • They all love crime documentaries and shows and have a "friendly" competition to see who can solve it first
  • They managed to develop glow-in-the-dark and water-proof paper for late night studying and reading or reading while showering
  • Pencils in their hair is second nature
  • They can somehow sense when an owl is near
  • Whenever they need a bookmark one magically appears in their pockets
  • Like the Ares kids, they are EXTREAMLY competetive
  • Don't mention the library of Alexandria to any athena child, they are very BITTER about the entire thing
  • They cabin smells of peppermint oil so much you get a headache but the Campers have become nose blind to it
  • Since Athena only needs platonic love to "give birth" some of her children will have two mothers and this can cause confusion between Campers when they say "my mother" not knowing which mother they're referring to
  • This makes them laugh almost as much as puns
  • They LOVE puns

If I was gonna make 3 fundamental changes to the Riordanverse it would be these:

  1. The demigods don’t influence wars and take station of high leadership, they’re *natural disasters*. What made the Big Three sign their pact? A zombie outbreak caused by children of Hades brought on by a battle between children of Zeus and Poseidon. Mortals remember this time as the Spanish Flu. We already see stuff like this with Typhon and the battle of manhattan— they just look like storms. The Black Plague was actually bc 40% of all Europeans were legacies at that point, and monsters started hunting down and killing any demigod who wasn’t strong enough to protect themselves. Went by the Black Death bc most of them were shadow creatures sent by Nyx who didn’t like the idea of that many godlings being in the world.
  2. Demigods don’t all inherently have ADHD and Dyslexia, even if it is common. However *all* disabilities that a demigod has will have a benefit/power associated with it. Because they’re fkn demigods! Even their disabilities are superpowers! Oh, you have a hand tremor? Well you can run like a cheetah. Oh, you use a wheelchair? Well your upper body strength could make an ogre’s knees buckle. Eye trouble = ears of a hound. Narcolepsy/chronic fatigue = more potent powers. I feel like this would skirt the “magical disability” trope a bit since it’s not “you get ADHD from your magic parents therefore it’s fake ADHD” it’s “you have ADHD, but because you’re a magical demigod, you also get this.” I would also apply this to acquired disabilities btw. Amputation = magical demigod body reacts accordingly, focusing your half divine power into something else.
  3. Children of Athena are adopted by Athena bc she sees potential in them, rather than them being her actual weird mind babies. I imagine her Blessing imparts all of the powers her demigods usually get, though they would only *smell* like demigods to arachnids. Also in my HC Annabeth runs away bc she feels like a burden on her parents bc she’s the only one with ADHD and dyslexia (even tho they don’t actually care, she still feels resented for struggling in school). Athena sees this mortal child willing to live on the streets and be independent when things don’t go her way and she says Thats My Girl Now and Annabeth becomes scared of spiders and starts seeing a sht ton of monsters everywhere.

Things I would really really like in the coming sagas.

-Just a Man being used as a plea rather than a fact. Like Odysseus is desperately trying to convince Penelope that he's not a threat.

-When pushed to the point of mutiny, Eurylocus desperately shouts, "All I hear are screams!"

-Penelope protecting her child and her kingdom like a boss.

-Odysseus's Dad the goat herder.

-Athena and Odysseus reconciling a little for the sale of Telemachus and all that they've learned. Not back to how they were, but not at where they are now.

-After Odysseus kills Eurylocus, he looks at the body of his brother and the blood on his hands, sings "what if I'm the monster" but there's a 180 in terms of tone because he's heartbroken.

Sorry if someone else had pointed it out already, but this is just... I don't know what to do with this information.

Maybe I'm wrong though, I don't even know what the conclusion is, but like maybe it's Athena watching, OR maybe it's like... It's a reminder that if Ody would've listened to Athena and killed the cyclops then none of those soldiers would be dead?
